We are creating the Tloma Business Development Center. The main purpose of the center will be to provide a place for local small businesses to train and operate.
The Plan
We will need to find available land to purchase on which we can build the Tloma Business Development Center. This will be tied to the location of the well. Once the land is purchased, construction can begin.
The business center will provide:
- Workspace for The Soap Ladies to store materials, manufacture their products, and keep their finished goods
- Space for The Soap Ladies to sew and repair school uniforms, including sewing machine(s) and supplies
- Workspace and storage for local artisans to make wood carvings and other gifts
- A souvenir and gift shop where The Soap Ladies and village artisans can sell their products
Meeting/training rooms for teaching English classes and to further business development within the community
Local lodges have indicated they would be interested in encouraging their guests to visit the Tloma Business Development Center once it is established, to promote sales and donations for the community. We will talk to the safari companies that bring visitors to the school and ask that they include a stop at the development center.
