New Headmistress Begins at Tloma Primary School

headmistress Angel

Tloma Primary School has a new headmistress. She sent us this message introducing herself:

Hello, my name is Angel Ernest Kimanya the headmistress at Tloma Primary School. It is a nice thing you are doing for our communities; I thank you for that. I am thirty years old. I must say I feel honoured and humbled that I became a headmistress at this age.

Previously, I was teaching at Mang’ola Chini Primary School before moving to Tloma in November 2020. I was chosen to be the Academic Master at Tloma Primary around January 2021 and served in that position for a year. I worked hard alongside the previous headmaster and my fellow teachers in academic matters to make sure our students improve academically in school. On 17th February 2022, I received a letter informing me that I was chosen to be the headmistress. I was chosen to be headmistress because I have the qualifications to lead which is The Diploma in Primary Education.

My goals as headmistress are to improve academics of the school. I want to improve the class seven results from last year’s 94% to 98% or more, also to maintain 100% success for class four students. Another goal is to make sure students have highest level of discipline towards their studies, teachers and parents as well. Also, I want to cooperate with my fellow teachers on all plans to develop the school.

What I have learned in the time I have been teaching at Tloma Primary is some students fail to come to school because they cannot afford requirements like uniform and books. These students need these necessary requirements to attend school. Students also need lunch at school to keep them active. Apart from students, teachers need motivational pay so that they can teach students in extra times like evenings and weekends. We would appreciate anything your organization can do to help our school and students. Thank you for this opportunity.

Headmistress Angel goes on to tell us the school needs more volunteer teachers to help reduce the workload on the teaching staff so the regular teaching staff will have more time to prepare teaching aids.

We welcome Headmistress Angel and look forward to working with her.
